Swimmer Code of Conduct
Seal Swimming's Swimmer Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all participants — covering respect, safety, readiness, and care for the environment — and the consequences of inappropriate behaviour.
Creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful swim community
At Seal Swimming, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where every swimmer can learn, grow, and thrive. Whether you are a child, teen, or adult, we ask all swimmers to follow this Code of Conduct as part of our swim community. This Code must be accepted by all participants when registering for lessons.
Be respectful
- Treat teachers, other swimmers, and other families with kindness and courtesy
- Listen carefully when teachers and coaches are giving instructions
- Use respectful language and behaviour at all times — both in and out of the water
Be safe
Read more about our safety standards in our Safety Protocols and Guidelines article.
- Follow all safety rules and pool guidelines as explained by Seal staff
- Walk, do not run, on the pool deck
- Stay with your class or swim teacher unless given permission to leave
- Never push, dunk, or engage in rough play in or around the water
Be ready
- Arrive on time and prepared with all required swim gear — see What to Expect on Your First Day for a full packing list
- Try your best, ask questions, and participate with a positive attitude
- Stay focused during class and avoid distracting others
- Remember, all swimmers are here to learn and improve each visit to the pool
Take care of the environment
- Help keep changing areas, pool decks, and common spaces clean and tidy
- Respect facility property and equipment
- Use lockers or bins for personal items and avoid bringing valuables
Inappropriate conduct
The following behaviours are not allowed and may result in warnings, removal from the pool, or dismissal from the program:
- Disrespectful or disruptive behaviour toward swim teachers or other swimmers
- Unsafe actions in or around the pool
- Bullying, harassment, or exclusion of others
- Repeated refusal to follow instructions
- Use of inappropriate language or gestures
- Physical or verbal aggression
We will always work with swimmers and families to support success, but continued misconduct may lead to removal from the program without refund. If you have a concern about behaviour at your location, please contact our team or speak to the Shift Lead on deck.
Our commitment to you
Seal Swimming teachers and staff are committed to:
- Creating a positive, welcoming atmosphere for every swimmer
- Supporting every swimmer's individual learning journey
- Communicating clearly and respectfully with swimmers and families
- Prioritizing the physical and emotional safety of all participants
