Parent and Guardian Information
Everything parents and guardians need to know about swimming lessons at Seal Swimming — arrival times, what to bring, how to support your swimmer during and after class, and how to stay informed.
What to know before, during, and after your swimmer's lesson
At Seal Swimming, parents and guardians are our partners in creating a safe, fun, and positive environment for every child. Whether you are new to swimming lessons or a returning family, this guide outlines what you need to know to support your swimmer's experience.
Before the lesson
Arrival time — Please arrive 10–15 minutes before class to allow time for changing and check-in. Late arrivals may miss valuable teaching time and disrupt the flow of the class.
What to bring — Swimsuit, towel, goggles, and swim cap (if applicable); flip flops or pool shoes for walking on deck; swim diaper and reusable cover for children under 3 or not fully toilet trained.
Check-in and supervision — Children must be supervised by a parent or caregiver at all times outside of their lesson. A designated adult must remain on-site for all swimmers under age 12.
During the lesson
Observation — Parents are welcome to watch from the designated viewing area unless otherwise directed. Please do not coach or call to your child during the lesson — trust our swim teachers to guide them with care.
Stay engaged — Try to limit phone calls or scrolling on the pool deck. We would love for you to be an active, present part of your child's learning journey. If you have questions or concerns, please wait until after the class to speak with a Shift Lead, or contact our team.
After the lesson
Encourage and celebrate — Offer positive reinforcement — even small progress is worth celebrating. Ask your swimmer what they learned or enjoyed most. This builds connection and reinforces learning.
Stay informed — Use the Swim Portal to check class schedules, progress updates, and request make-up lessons. Keep an eye out for communications from our team with reminders and upcoming events.
Supporting all swimmers
Seal Swimming is proud to offer an inclusive and judgement-free environment. Please help us maintain a space where all swimmers — regardless of ability, identity, or experience — can feel safe and supported. Our Safety Protocols and Guidelines outline how we uphold this commitment in every class.
Questions?
Our team is always happy to help. If you have questions about your swimmer's progress, lesson level, scheduling, or anything else, please contact us or speak to a Shift Lead on site. You can also use our Class Finder at any time if you are unsure whether your swimmer is in the right level.
